Director Karan Johar accidentally slipped the news that Shah Rukh Khan might be doing a cameo appearance in the Ranbir-Aishwarya-Anushka starrer, adding to the list of high-profile stars in the film.

If the buzz about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was not loud enough, it is going to get better. Director Karan Johar has just let out a Shah Rukh Khan-sized cat out of the film's bag. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, the director slyly revealed some details about Khan making an appearance in the film.
He said, "Shah Rukh and I have an amazing working rapport. I haven’t directed a film with him in the last seven years, but he did a scene for me recently in a film that is going to release in Diwali and after seven years when I directed him, I realised nothing had changed. He knew exactly what I was expecting of him and I knew exactly what he was going to do."
It doesn't take much to guess the name of the film, seeing how Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is the only film directed by Johar set to release this Diwali. However, Khan's character in the film is still shrouded in mystery. Reports suggest that the star will be essaying the role of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's husband in the film.
Rai Bachchan is playing a poet, and reports suggest that her husband is likely to die during the early part of the film. This is speculated to be the character played by Khan.
Speaking about the film, Johar said, "The film is an ode to myself without being self-indulgent. It is about the angst of falling in love without reciprocation. I am the brand ambassador of that emotion."
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan in prominent roles. The film is set to release on 28 October.
