Mirzya title song: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in brilliant form with this folk track

The music director trio create passionate romance with a folk song sung by Daler Mehndi.

The title song of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya comes like a breath of fresh air. Any love story in Hindi cinema needs some great music to create a connection with the audience, and going by this first song, of which we got a glimpse in the trailer, the Mirzya soundtrack seems to hold a lot of promise.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are back in top form after a long time as they blend Punjabi folk with the powerful voice of Daler Mehndi. Other singers — Sain Zahoor, Akhtar Chinnal and Nooran Sisters — also infuse energy into this lively composition. The melody rides heavily on the percussion work of Taufiq Qureshi, creating a larger than life effect. Yeh vaadiyaan dudhiya kohre ki, in mein sadiyaan behti hain. Marta nahi ishq o-Mirza, sadiyan Sahiban rehti hai - Gulzar is at it once again!

The love story, based on the Punjabi folk tale of Mirza and Sahiban, stars debutants Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher. Set in the backdrop of vast deserts and massive forts, the visuals, as we had also seen in the trailer, are breathtaking, with simply delightful cinematography by Pawel Dyllus.

Kapoor and Kher's scenes go back and forth in time — from the world of horses and bow and arrows to motorcycles and polo games — through the track.

Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and ROMP, Mirzya releases on 7 October.
