Neeraj Pandey’s MS Dhoni: The Untold Story had an impressive run at the box office in its first weekend. The film collected Rs62 crore on the first three days. Considering that it does not boast of a star in the lead, it was indeed a positive number for the producers.
But the Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer had a steep fall on Monday as it managed to bag only Rs7.25 crore, as per BoxOfficeIndia.com. A big drop is always expected for a film on its first weekday, but in this case, the drop is a bit too steep. In other words, the film could not pass the challenging Monday test.
The nett total of the film so far is Rs69 crore. The amount would have made the producers happy if the film had been made at a moderate budget. Unfortunately, MS Dhoni’s cost of production is reportedly Rs80 crore or more.
For a film with such a high cost, it is necessary to cross the Rs100 crore mark in box-office collections soon and, ideally, pass Rs130 crore. But with such numbers on Monday, the road towards the three-figure mark looks difficult for the film.
If the film reaches that number, it will be director Neeraj Pandey’s first film to enter the Rs100 crore club.
