Last seen in Mardaani (2014), Rani Mukherjee has been busy playing mother to little Adira. However, reports suggest the actress is planning a comeback to the big screen. Rani has already discussed a script with director Siddharth P Malhotra, whose last film was We Are Family (2010) with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kajol.

Reports suggest that the movie has a strong social cause and was liked by both Rani and Aditya Chopra. The film also follows the currently popular trend in Hindi cinema of biopics. Priyanka Chopra was first speculated to play the lead in the film. However, Chopra was not too keen on another biopic after Mary Kom (2014). Rani Mukherjee is now expected to play the lead in place of Chopra. Aditya Chopra is also speculated to produce the film. Currently, he is preparing for the release of Befikre, starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, to release on 9 December.

Rani Mukherjee is also waiting for Adira to turn one year old. As a doting mother, Rani has been hands on with her child's care. With Adira turning a year old, the actress will be able to spare some time to her comeback vehicle.

The film has not yet been titled, but is expected to go on the floors in December.
