James Bond fans in India were in for a shock last week when they saw Hollywood Pierce Brosnan endorsing a pan masala brand. The actor got trolled heavily on social media while there were innumerable jokes made on the same.

However, in a huge twist to the tale, Brosnan has now expressed shock on the use of his image in the advertisement. The actor has claimed that he was unaware that he was signed as a brand ambassador of a product that puts people at a risk of developing fatal diseases like cancer.

In a statement, the James Bond actor said, “I was distressed to learn of Pan Bahar’s unauthorised and deceptive use of my image to endorse their range of paan masala products. I would never have entered into an agreement to promote a product in India that is dangerous to one’s health.”

Brosnan also cited examples of his wife and daughter who were victims of cancer. “Having endured, in my own personal life, the loss of my first wife and daughter as well as numerous friends to cancer, I am fully committed to supporting women’s healthcare and research programs that improve human health and alleviate suffering.”

Furthermore, the actor also revealed that his contract stated that he was to endorse “breath freshener/tooth whitener.” He has expressed an apology for ‘unknowingly’ endorsing it and has demanded the brand to remove him as the ambassador. However, he hasn’t disclosed about taking any legal route against the company as of now.
