Ageing Salman Khan fizzled out of Coca-Cola?


As per reports, the beverage giant hasn't renewed its contract with the superstar as it eyes younger faces.

He’s long been the face of popular beverage brand, but Salman Khan will no longer be associated with beverage giant Coca-Cola, according to a Economic Times report.

ET quoted a Coca-Cola official saying: “Salman's contract with Thums Up has not been renewed. The company is looking for a younger face.”

As per the report, Khan’s age, 50, does not appeal to the beverage giant anymore despite Khan doling out blockbusters year after year. Buzz has it that the company is eyeing younger faces and is said to be in talks with Ranveer Singh (31).

Khan was the face of Thums Up since 2002 and continued till his contract was over. He later moved to promoting a rival brand before Coca-Cola signed him in 2012. The actor was said to be paid Rs18 crore (approximate) for two years at the time. The deal was then extended.

Coca-Cola currently has gen-next actors like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra as its ambassadors. 

Over the years, Khan has endorsed few other brands — travel portal (Yatra.com), two wheelers (Suzuki), a slipper brand (Relaxo), a washing detergent from Hindustan Lever, and an energy a capsule Revital. 

While his films smash box-office records, the actor has always remained a controversial figure battling two high-profile legal cases. His comments every now and then have managed to keep him in the news. 

Two days ago, the Rajasthan government had moved the Supreme Court appealing against the acquittal given to him by the Rajasthan high court in the two poaching cases of 1999.

Khan’s Coca-Cola contract not being renewed comes close on the heels of rival Pepsi walking out of the Indian Premier League as the title sponsor last year, and their move to not renew the contract of Indian One-Day International captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
