Cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently made a successful comeback to the Indian test side by performing decently against New Zealand in the third test match at Indore. While speaking about his comeback, he lashed out at Hindi film celebrities for supporting Pakistani artistes.

Following the Uri attack in Jammu and Kashmir, there were constant demands for a complete ban over Pakistani artistes working in India. The demand was met after Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) passed a resolution to ban Pakistani artists from working in India till the situation between both countries improves.

Before the ban, several Hindi film stars came out in support of artists from across the border, including superstar Salman Khan, who said, “They are artists, not terrorists. It’s the government who gives them permits and visas.”

Gambhir has come down heavily on Hindi film stars who urged to keep art and politics separate. In an interview, he said, “India should not have any ties with Pakistan be it Bollywood or cricket. I am shocked that Bollywood is saying that cricket and movies should be kept ahead of national sentiments.”

This is not all though. He added, “National interest is above anything else. Just because you sit in an air-conditioned room, you can say you shouldn’t relate cricket and movies to politics. Ask anyone who has lost a family member to terror attacks and you will get your answer.”

The controversy regarding casting Pakistani actors in Indian films is still fresh with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) vowing to oppose the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which stars Fawad Khan from the neighbouring country.
