Neeraj Pandey’s M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story opened to very good numbers in the first weekend by earning Rs62 crore. As expected the film had a drop in the weekdays, which is understandable. It rounded up its first week with Rs84 crore.
But it hasn’t performed as per expectations in the second weekend, despite being tax-free in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh (UP) and the fact that it had no real threat in the form of new releases of the week. MS Dhoni summed up its second weekend with Rs14.5 crore.
This makes its overall nett earnings in India as Rs99 crore. But the film wouldn’t have to wait for today to reach the century mark. The total earnings of its dubbed versions stand at Rs5.5 crore. This makes its grand total to Rs104.5 crore.
M S Dhoni, which is a biopic on the Indian cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is reportedly made at the cost of Rs80 crore. So the collections fall in the decent category.
Tuesday and Wednesday are holidays in India due to Dusshera and Moharram. It will be interesting to see whether they have any impact on the collections.
