Actress Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan, about the trauma faced by displaced women in a brothel during the Partition era, will hit the screens on 6 January 2017.

Milind Dabke, head, Play Entertainment, said: "Begum Jaan is a high-voltage denouement, a strong women protagonist commercial cinema, created by master craftsman Srijit Mukherji. We will have a wide release on 6 January 2017."
Balan plays the title role of the madam of a brothel in the film, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapoor, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Ashish Vidyarthi and Chunky Pandey.
Play Entertainment's earlier production Jai Gangaajal, starring Priyanka Chopra, also happened to be a woman-centric saga.
