Director Shankar's 2.0 promises to be much bigger than its prequel, Robot (2010) because apart from Rajinikanth, it also has Akshay Kumar playing the villain. Mainly because of this reason, the film has been hugely awaited ever since its dream cast was announced.
However, the southern superstar’s revelation that he is not the actual hero of the film had everyone stunned. The Kabali star said this during the motion poster launch of 2.0.
“I am telling you the truth. The hero of 2.0 is not Rajinikanth. Akshay Kumar is the hero. If I would have been given a choice, I would have selected that (Akshay’s) character. But hats off to Akshay Kumar. He works so hard, so hard. And you can see that on the screen,” said Rajinikanth. To this, Akshay intervened, “Sir, I had no choice.”
Sivaji – The Boss added, “But (it’s) a brilliant character; brilliant role. I am telling you, the whole country will applaud Akshay after the release of this picture.”
The surprise element of the evening was Salman Khan walking in without anybody’s knowledge. Later on, when Rajinikanth was asked whether he would like to work with the Dabanng actor, he said laughingly, “Even tomorrow if Salman says ‘yes,’ I am ready.”
2.0 is all set to release next Diwali.
