Shah Rukh Khan is a man of his word. Khan returned to the Kolkata International Film Festival and spoke a few words in Bengali.

Khan, who is the tourism ambassador of West Bengal and owner of the Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, attended the film festival which was also attended by Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Parineeti Chopra. Chief minister Mamata Bannerjee was also present at the event.

While Bengalis will be the best judge, going by the reactions of Bachchan, it’s fair to assume that King Khan may have indulged in some banter.  Apparently, the actor confessed to being weak in Bengali, and that Bachchan can spank him later.

In the speech, which he made in Bengali, he confessed that he has made a lot of mistakes and that it’s all his fault. “I hope you will forgive me for my mistake. Today I will speak in another language, that’s the language of cinema. So please don’t laugh at me, I am getting there,” he said.

Fluent Bengali or not, you can watch Khan keep his promise here.
