She is a reticent, elusive person. So when Rani Mukerji shows up in public, she is bound to attract attention. What made this public appearance special was that the actress was spotted for the first time since becoming a mother in December 2015.
Unfortunately for Indian fans and the media, the actress was spotted far away in picturesque Switzerland, where her late father-in-law and legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra has been immortalised in bronze.
Yash Chopra was a popular figure in Switzerland, having shot many of his films in the picturesque European nation. Rani and mother-in-law Pamela Chopra were invited by the government of Switzerland to unveil the statue of the late filmmaker. The sculpture, made of bronze and weighing about 350 kg, presents Yash Chopra in an iconic pose directing a film. The event was organised by Interlaken Tourism and Jungfrau Railways.
This is not the first time Yash Chopra has been honoured in Switzerland. The government of the canton of Interlaken awarded him the honorary title of Ambassador of Interlaken in 2011, and Jungfrau Railways named a train after him, an honour he shares with the railway’s founder, Adolf Guyer. In addition, the five-star Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken has named a suite after Yash Chopra.
Rani Mukerji had a private wedding with Aditya Chopra on April 21, 2014. Their first child, Adira, was born in December last year. Mukerji was last seen on the silver screen in the 2014 crime drama Mardaani.
