An eye for an eye, Madaari’s philosophy

Over the years, Irrfan Khan has played the protagonist so often that one almost forgot that in his early films, the Khan played characters with grey or negative shades. Nishikant Kamat’s Madaari thus comes as a timely reminder of how good Irrfan Khan can be portraying a villainous character.
The trailer of Madaari was released today. Irrfan Khan plays a cerebral criminal in the film who kidnaps the young son of the home minister. His character appears to be scarred by a personal loss, which pushes him to kidnap the child. The film, which is said to be inspired by real life, also stars Jimmy Shergill, who plays a police officer out to rescue the child and nab the criminal.
Madaari releases on 10 June 2016, the same day as TE3N with Amitabh Bachchan. Remarkably, TE3N, too, is a manhunt drama in which a child is kidnapped. Wonder how fans will react to the two films.
