Anil Kapoor launched the trailer for the second season of his hit TV series '24' yesterday. The event was graced by several celebrities, including Kapoor's actress daughter Sonam and superstar friend Aamir Khan.

The Indian version of the hit American TV series will see Kapoor reprise his role as Jai Singh Rathod. The series will be aired on Colors channel, and follows a successful run of its first season. The second season is written by the team of Rensil D'Silva, Bhavani Iyer, and Priya Pinto, and promises a similar level of suspense, action and drama as in its first run.

At the trailer launch, Anil Kapoor said it was tough to work for films and television simultaneously. He added that he was inspired by Aamir Khan when he chose to do the series. "It is a tough ride to do both TV and films. Aamir Khan has always been a leader and inspiration. He is younger than me and sometimes you learn from them. I remember while doing [the TV talk-show series] Satyamev Jayate he did nothing else. I have had lots of film offers, including an international film, but I couldn’t do it as I had to shoot from July to August. We will focus on 24."

Aamir Khan, in turn, was excited at the trailer preview. He said, "It [the trailer] was amazing. I can’t imagine to see this scale… I feel like I am watching a film, there is no difference. It’s wonderful to see this quality of work happening on television. Abhinay Deo has done a wonderful job. There are no doubts in my mind that it is going to fly."

Denying rumours that Aamir Khan would be making an appearance in the second season of the series, Anil Kapoor said, "We would love to have him and I know if I request him he won't say no, but our show is about characters and not stars. It has to happen organically."

The series is set to appear on television screens in July.
