Can't give up everything and move to LA like Priyanka: Kareena Kapoor on ambition

The actor shared her views on ambition and family life in a recent interview with Vogue India. The interview proves that real life is different from films, even for stars, as Kareena shows she is starkly different from her character in the recent 'Ki & Ka'.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is in a happy state right now. With a steady marriage and a high-flying career, it is natural that she feels more secure than ever. But if her recent Vogue interview is anything to go by, the actor's plans are nothing like the ambitious female entrepreneur she played in Balki's Ki and Ka (2016). The actor stated that she prefers to be a 'married working woman' and wishes to start a family soon.

Speaking about her contemporary Priyanka Chopra, Kareena said, "My responsibilities are a lot more different than hers (Priyanka Chopra). I have a husband, I would like to start a family. I can't give up everything and move to LA. That's not me."

While it is understandable that Kareena wants different things in life, stating a husband and family as responsibilities that prevent her is disappointing, considering Kareena has been quite courageous in choosing films that highlighted the modern woman, Ki and Ka being a case in point. In R Balki's film, Kareena played an ambitious entrepreneur who chooses to brings in the money to run the house. The film, and Kareena, marked a change in perspective from usual Hindi films which portrayed the male as the main earning member of the house.

The Udta Punjab actor added that she was too lazy and lacked the dedication to conquer the world. "I think it’s amazing what Priyanka has done. I don’t think I could ever do something like that... that kind of dedication of wanting to achieve so much and do it so wonderfully," she said, adding, "But I don't mind having a little place of my own. It's as simple as that," she said.

She also stated that the industry in India is some time away from having successful female actors who are also married.

Kareena will be appearing on the cover of Vogue for its July edition. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, the actor is described as looking 'unapologetically sexy'.

Kareena has proved to be a successful and ambitious actor with roles in films like Jab We Met, Udta Punjab (2016), Ki & Ka (2016), and Heroine (2012) deserving special mention. We certainly hope she continues to follow that ambition inspite of everything else.
