On your mark, get set, go. The makers of Budhia Singh – Born To Run have taken their first step by launching the trailer.

Directed by Soumendra Padhi, the film stars child actor Mayur Patole and Manoj Bajpayee and is based on the life of Budhia Singh, who made national headlines almost a decade ago by competing at various marathons as a five-year-old boy.

Bajpayee plays the role of Budhia's mentor Biranchi Das while Mayur Patole plays the titular character.

Budhia was sold for Rs800 by his father to a travelling salesman in Odisha. He was later given shelter by Biranchi Das, who discovered that the child had the potential to be a long-distance runner. Budhia's entry into various marathons resulted in controversy with some accusing Das of exploiting the child. Despite the controversies, Budhia completed a 70km marathon from Bhubaneswar to Puri in seven hours and two minutes. He was listed in the Limca Book of Records as the youngest marathoner in the world.

Mayur's cherubic look and innocence have already caught the eyes of social media networks, which have given a thumbs up to the trailer. Interestingly, this is the third film by Bajpayee in 2016 which is inspired by real events, after Aligarh and Traffic. The film releases on 5 August worldwide.
