He was counted among the finest actors at one point, and his sudden disappearance surprised fans. Back in 2010, Akshaye Khanna had announced that he was taking a five-year break from the industry.

Various theories floated around this decision, the more popular one being that a string of flops had badly affected the actor. Rumour also had it that Khanna wasn’t keeping good health.

Six years later, the actor made his first public appearance at the launch of the trailer of his upcoming action film Dishoom, where he plays the antagonist who abducts a top Indian cricketer.

When asked the reason for his long hiatus, Khanna merely said he had serious personal issues to deal with. Looking much fitter and leaner, Khanna did not reveal much on his prolonged absence. The actor confessed to always being media shy and this was evident again as he only spoke a few words.

"The moment I heard the plot of a top Indian cricketer being kidnapped, I was convinced to take this film. Apart from this, I have 2-3 films up my sleeve," Khanna said.

Before this comeback, Khanna had last made news for filing a police complaint against certain individuals for duping him of Rs50 lakh on the pretext of doubling the amount in 45 days.

Khanna was last seen in the 2012 flick Gali Gali Chor Hai. The actor would hope for Dishoom to be a box-office success, so he can get back into good form once again.
