Sonakshi Sinha is not one to mince words and we are not surprised. After all, she is Shotgun Junior (after her father, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who is called Shotgun for being outspoken)! Since making her debut with Dabangg in 2010, Sonakshi Sinha has worked in several potboilers with big stars. Apart from her dhinchak moves, what has earned her a fan following is the way she lives life on her own terms. Here's a look at five ways in which the young star totally owns it.

1. Unapologetic about her choice of films

Sinha has chosen to star in mainstream films opposite big stars in relatively smaller roles. Except for Lootera, her list of films – Dabangg (2010), Rowdy Rathore (2012), Son Of Sardaar (2012), R... Rajkumar (2013), and many others – do not explore her acting potential. Her last few films like Action Jackson (2014) and Tevar (2015) have failed at the box office too.

While many of her contemporaries are looking for different and meaty roles, Sinha has been happy with mainstream characters, so far. The actress is unapologetic about her choices. Asked why she isn’t challenging herself with a "meaningful" role, in an interview to the newspaper DNA, she said, “But I am the heroine! I don't want to do a female-oriented script just because everybody else is doing it. That's not a nice reason to take up something. I am doing the kind of films that I like to watch as an audience, and I think the box-office numbers will verify that fact, so yeah, it's fun."

Add to that Sinha has a ‘no revealing outfits and no kissing’ rule. And so far she has stuck to her guns.

2. Slamming body shaming
The curvy actress does not believe in conforming to the popular notion of beauty. Sonakshi Sinha, who has become a lot leaner now, has often spoken against those who tried body-shaming her or trolling her for being overweight.

She once gave it back to Twitter phenomenon Kamaal R Khan, who was objectifying her and comparing her body to that of other actresses.

3. Can’t stop her from singing

Many actresses today love to sing – from Priyanka Chopra to Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor – and many have exercised their vocal chords in recent times. But Sonakshi Sinha drew the most amount of criticism when she released her own single ‘Ishqaholic’ recently.

Sinha, who considers Adele her idol, got trolled on Twitter for trying to be a pop star. But the girl knows how to give it back.

Good, bad, ugly, Sinha believes she has the right to sing.

4. Gives it back to Bullies
Sonakshi Sinha often gives it back to bullies on social media. The actress isn’t scared of taking on trolls. Recently, during a chat session, somebody asked her when she would show off her curvy body in a bikini. Sinha retorted, “Ask your mum or sister the same question you creep. Let me know what they say!”

In an interview to Hindustan Times some time back, when asked if she takes criticism on social media seriously, Sinha said, “Not at all. There are great options on Twitter, like mute and block. I take those very seriously.”

5. The multi-tasking action girl Sona

Not many know this, but Sonakshi Sinha is a sporty woman. She is toned and in great shape at the moment too. The actress has trained hard for her next release Akira with director AR Murugadoss, where she will be seen beating up the baddies. Also watch out for her in the action flick Force 2 with John Abraham.
