His last film, a biopic on tainted former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, scored poorly at the box office, earning barely Rs30 crore. But leaving the past behind, Emrana Hashmi is set to begin a new chapter in his life by turning to production. His firm, called Emraan Hashmi Films, will collaborate with Oddball Motion Pictures for his maiden production. Strangely, the actor has roped in Azhar director Tony D'Souza for this project.

“I’m really excited to turn producer in collaboration with Tony D’Souza, who is an extremely talented filmmaker and a great friend,” Hashmi said in a statement.

“After the success of Azhar, Emraan and I are happy to join hands on this venture. While we cannot disclose much at this juncture, we are finalising the script and the casting,” D’Souza added.

Emraan Hashmi has been struggling for the past few years with as many as nine flops. The actor’s last hit was Raaz 3D in 2012. It would be interesting to see the kind of films that his company makes and the subjects it chooses to tackle.

The actor is currently filming for the fourth instalment of Raaz, titled Raaz Reboot.
