Shah Rukh Khan in talks with Kaabil makers to avoid clash with Raees

The actor is trying to persuade Rakesh Roshan to avert a box-office clash on Republic Day in 2017

There was once a time when Shah Rukh Khan welcomed all competition with ‘just bring it on' attitude. Today SRK is worried about the 'C' word. He had taken the clash with Bajirao Mastani head on last year, and it affected the business of his film Dilwale quite badly.

Having averted competition with Salman Khan's Sultan on Eid, Shah Rukh isn’t too keen on having one on Republic Day next year. Shah Rukh and the co-producers of Raees had pushed their film to 26 January 2017, a release date which was picked by Rakesh Roshan for his son Hrithik Roshan’s action thriller Kaabil.

Shortly after Ritesh Sidhwani announced that Raees had been pushed to next year, Roshan senior launched the teaser of Kaabil.

Reports emerged that Roshan wasn’t pleased with Shah Rukh. Rumor also had it that Khan had spoken to Roshan requesting them to delay the release of Kaabil. But Roshan had denied getting any such requests from SRK at the time.

As it turns out, that wasn’t just a rumour. Shah Rukh confessed to making such a request in a chat on #fame digital yesterday.

SRK said that both films will suffer if they are released on the same date. Khan is in talks with the makers of Kaabil to push the release date of their film in order to avoid clashing.

“Both the movies will suffer if they  are released on the same day. In order to avoid such a situation we are trying to find a middle ground and talk to the makers of Kaabil to avert any kind of clash.” Khan said.

While Khan has declared his desire, there is no indication as of now to suggest that the Roshans are ready to acquiesce Khan’s request.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is crime drama film based on the infamous bootlegging business in Gujarat in 80s.
