Actor Salman Khan and director Kabir Khan have joined hands twice before – for Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) – and emerged victorious. Their upcoming Tubelight will make sure they complete a hat-trick.
With the duo joining hands again, the film has been in the news ever since it was announced recently. It has just gone on the floors today in the picturesque valleys of Ladakh. The director mentioned this yesterday on his Twitter page by sharing a picture of Ladakh with the caption, “#Tubelight shoot begins here tomorrow... #Ladakh. 200 strong crew all acclimatised and ready to roll...”
Interestingly, Tubelight is the first of the few Indo-China projects planned. According to reports, it’s a period film based in the 1960s in the backdrop of the Sino-Indian war. It’s a love story in which Salman Khan’s character falls in love with a Chinese girl.
But the most interesting bit about the film is that it will feature Salman Khan playing a character with special needs for the first time in his career. Because of his condition, his character is nicknamed Tubelight since he takes time to understand things.
There is one similarity between Tubelight and Salman's recent blockbuster Sultan. In the wrestling drama, the female lead, Anushka Sharma, was announced after the shooting commenced. Same is the case with Tubelight. Though several names have come up, the makers have not yet revealed who will be cast opposite Salman.
