Kabali reaches Rs200 crore as Rajinikanth's magic works again

The film crossed the celebrated mark on Tuesday and became Rajinikanth's second film, after Enthiran, to earn Rs200 crore at the box office.


Well, we knew this was coming even before the film released. The official figures till Tuesday reveal that Rajinikanth's Kabali has raked in a massive Rs200 crore. This makes it the second film for the superstar, after Enthiran, to achieve this feat. 

"It's the fastest South Indian film to rake in over Rs200 crore at the box office worldwide in just five days. As on Tuesday, Kabali has grossed Rs205 crore and this includes the three languages [Hindi, Tamil and Malay] in which the film was released," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

The film earned Rs109 crore in its opening weekend in India. 

"In the domestic market, the film collected a whopping Rs128 crore from the opening weekend. It's the best ever opening for a South Indian film," he said.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kabali is the story of a gangster's fight for equal pay rights for Tamils in Malaysia and his revenge upon the criminals who try to stop him.

The Tamil film has been dubbed in multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu, and Malay.
