Kareena Kapoor Khan is not one to mince words. Saif's begum hit back at the overeager media speculation over her career post pregnancy. Speaking to a national daily, Kareena said, "I’m pregnant, not a corpse. And what maternity break? It’s the most normal thing on earth to produce a child. It is high time the media back off, and stop treating me any different than I ever was. Anybody who is bothered shouldn’t work with me… but my work goes on as is, like always. Stop making it a national casualty."

Kareena scathingly added that we live in the year 2016, and not 1800s, and even then people were more civilised and normal than the media is today.

The actress continued to say that her pregnancy will in no way impede her career. She suggested that it should be a message that marriage or having children should have nothing to do with the career of a woman.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband, Saif Ali Khan, announced the pregnancy on 2 July this month. Since then, the media has been speculating whether the actress will choose to complete the many films in her schedule or drop out of some. There were further rumours that Kareena would be taking a maternity leave after completing the shooting for Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor's joint production, Veere Di Wedding, in October.

However, the actress has rubbished all reports and said she will continue to work.

This is not the first time the actress has clashed with the media either. In 2008-09, she had pulled up the media for obsessing about her size zero figure.

Nevertheless, her dedication to work and confidence is quite commendable. Here's to the new 'Queen' in town.
