Having shattered several records since its release, Salman Khan's Sultan has added another feather to his cap by setting a record first week collection of Rs208 crore net in its first week, as reported by Boxoffcieindia.com. Thus, it is the fastest to cross Rs200 crore.
The film, which released on 6 July, and bagged over Rs30 crore on its frst day, expectedly saw its collection drop to Rs15.5 and Rs13 crore on its first Monday and Tuesday, respectively. What makes the first Monday and Tuesday collection special though is that desptie the drop in tickets prices, these figures stand really impressive. The top collections for first Monday belong to Krrish 3 Rs29.64 crore, but that was on a holiday.
Sultan's week long collection of Rs208 crore net betters the record set by Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), which had recorded Rs28 crore less in its first week.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh projected the film to touch Rs235 crore in about nine days.
As you read this, #Sultan crosses â¹ 200 cr mark today [Tue; Day 7]... Week 1 [9 days] should close at â¹ 235 cr [+/-], making it an ATBB.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) July 12, 2016
Adarsh also pointed out that both Dhoom 3 and PK took nine days to touch the Rs200 crore mark.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan's first week collections were Rs183.52 crore, while Dhoom 3 (2013) had amassed Rs183 crore while PK (2014) bagged Rs180 crore.
With a highly impressive collection in the first week, Sultan will be aiming to beat the domestic collections of PK, which has lifetime collections of Rs337 crore.
