Salman Khan's rumoured girlfriend Romanian Iulia Vantur cleared the air on Saturday over her alleged comments on the Indian joint family system to a Romanian magazine. She was in Mumbai to talk about her video 'Every Day and Knight' from Himesh Reshammiya’s album 'Aapki Mausiiquii', where she has also contributed as a singer. This was the first time that Vantur interacted with the Indian media.

Some weeks ago, Vantur courted controversy after a few portals reported that she made remarks to a Romanian magazine about her discomfiture over joint families in India. These rumours followed tales of Vantur supposedly falling out with her rumoured boyfriend Khan.

According to online reports, Vantur had told Romanian magazine that the close-knit Indian family system didn’t allow privacy which made her stay uncomfortable. Vantur vehemently denied that she ever made any such remarks against the Indian family system.

“Salman Khan is a dear friend. He’s a great human with a good heart. I’ve always admired the work he does with his Being Human foundation. I’m fine with the rumours, but the trouble is that it affects my parents. Also, I’d like to make it clear that I was never married, as it was reported in the Indian media earlier,” Vantur told journalists.

Interestingly, when asked to choose her favourite actor other than Khan, Vantur threw a surprise by naming Anupam Kher.

The Romanian thanked Reshammiya for giving her an opportunity to sing with him, and also harped special praise on young singer Palak Mucchal.

“I won’t call it a dream come true because I never dreamt of coming here and getting such an opportunity. I feel blessed to be working with Himesh Reshammiya. This song is a learning experience as it helps me to improve my Hindi. I’d like to thank Palak Mucchal who really helped me a lot with my singing,” Vantur added.

Despite lending her voice to Reshammiya’s album, the Romanian is not really keen on acting or singing in movies.

Vantur had lent her vocal to Khan’s version of 'Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai' from Sultan.
