Yesterday was the 87th birth anniversary of the late singer-actor-director Kishore Kumar. A couple of years ago, director Anurag Basu wanted to cast Ranbir Kapoor as Kishore Kumar in a biopic on the great artiste. Kapoor had called it a dream role, having displayed shades of Kishore Kumar in Basu's Barfi! (2013).

Sadly, the dream remains a dream, as the project was shelved. Kapoor cited various reasons, most notably the fact that Kishore Kumar's family had not approved the script.

In December 2015, it was reported that Aamir Khan had made a call to Ranbir Kapoor to inquire about the status of the biopic. Khan usually goes through hundreds of scripts before agreeing to one. A notable example was how he first refused Lagaan (2001), only to change his mind.

The report said Khan was keen to discuss the biopic with Anurag Basu once he had finished with Dangal, a biopic on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat.

Writers and directors know well by now how Khan takes his own time to be convinced of a project. It is rare for the star to approach someone about a particular role.

Khan might love to play Kishore Kumar on screen. However, does he fit the bill? While there is no doubting his ability as an actor, would he look the part? We at Cinestaan.com decided to take four classic pictures of Kishore Kumar and find out. Here are the results!

Going by our imaging, the actor does look a perfect fit to play the mischievous, raucous actor-singer. But will it happen?
