The age gap notwithstanding, Deepika Padukone (30) and Shah Rukh Khan (50) have always made a great pair. Padukone began her career with Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om (2007) and went on to give more hits with Shah Rukh Khan like Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014). The actress from Bangalore is now tipped to feature in her fourth film with Khan.

As reported by DNA newspaper, Padukone is in talks with director-producer Aanand L Rai to feature in his next directorial project, which will have Shah Rukh Khan playing a dwarf. The discussions are said to be at an advanced stage, and Padukone is likely to give her nod for the project.

Interestingly, when Rai, who is also producing this year's Happy Bhag Jayegi, was asked about Padukone featuring in his film with Khan, he had brushed aside the query suggesting that he was still scripting the film and far from signing any actress.

It may be recalled that Padukone is said to have signed up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next feature film, Padmavati. So, if she does take up Rai’s project, how will she balance the two? Shah Rukh Khan, too, is likely to begin shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s next.

As Rai suggested, he is still writing his script, and perhaps that may give time for both Khan and Padukone to wrap up their respective films.
