Celebrities promoting states other than their home state is a positive move not just by the stars, but is also considered a perfect tool for national integration.

Priyanka Chopra was recently approached by the Assam tourism department to promote their state. Chopra has travelled and lived across various Indian cities since her parents were physicians in the Indian army.

Trouble arose when news reports stated that Chopra had supposedly charged a whopping Rs1.5 crore per day. The entire campaign requires her to shoot for 10 days, thereby taking the rumoured fee to Rs15 crore.

However, Assam tourism has issued a letter denying such reports. This was also backed by sources close to the actress, who said that money was never discussed with regards to promoting Assam. Buzz has it that Chopra is keen to endorse the state and will make up her mind in due time.

According to the letter sent by Assam tourism development, "...the news that has appeared in various local print media mentioning that Ms. Priyanka Chopra has been paid Rs15 crore by the Assam government, etc. for endorsing her as a brand ambassador for the Awesome Assam Campaign is completely false and fictitious. It is therefore completely denied (sic)"

Meanwhile, Chopra's camp, too, denied the report. “Priyanka was approached for the campaign, and she is keen to do it too. But they never spoke about the money. She has been actively working for many causes, and the idea of promoting tourism for an Indian state appealed to her. She isn’t in the country till December, as she is busy shooting for her American show. She is also looking forward to the release of her Hollywood film. But she really wants to be part of this campaign, and will take a call on it soon," a source close to the actress was reported as saying.

Chopra is currently in the United Sates where she will shoot for the second season of Quantico.
