Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ad posters in Malaysian store taken down for obscenity

Local council in Malaysia deems the posters inappropriate as they 'could corrupt the mind of the youth'.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a global beauty, and beauty, as they say, lies in the eyes of the beholder. But a local Malaysian council wasn’t amused to see posters of the actress in a Malaysian watch store and ordered them removed.

As per various reports, the managers of the watch store had used appealing posters of Rai Bachchan on their store walls to attract customers. The actress endorses a reputed Swiss brand.

However, the marketing strategy didn't go down well with the local council and it asked the store to remove the posters and levied a hefty fine on the manager.

The authorities said the posters were too sexy and inappropriate for use in stores and could "corrupt the minds of the youth". The store manager defended the move claiming it was the manufacturers who had provided them with the posters. But the authorities wouldn’t budge.

Obviously, obscenity, like beauty, also lies in the eye of the beholder.
